What
is NYIT's mission?
New
York Institute of Technology was founded in 1955 with a mission
to provide career-focused education, to offer access to opportunity,
to enhance learning through technology and to encourage applications-oriented
research.
-
What
is the average class size?
As part of our focus on student success, we keep class sizes
small to encourage faculty-student interaction and individual
attention. Most classes, even introductory courses, are limited
to 30 students, and many classes have fewer than 20.
-
Who
teaches NYIT classes?
Our classes are taught by full and part-time faculty members
who combine academic accomplishment with up-to-date, “real-world”
knowledge. NYIT professors are respected practitioners in their
fields and maintain their professional credentials and contacts,
giving students the unique advantage of a dual perspective.
NYIT’s professors act as academic and professional mentors
to students and forge connections that often last long after
graduation.
-
Can
you describe a typical NYIT student?
We are very proud of the fact that there is no such thing as
a “typical” NYIT student. NYIT students come from
many national, ethnic, cultural and racial backgrounds, are
equally balanced by gender, and range in age from late teens
to senior citizens. What do NYIT students share? A common desire
to achieve academic, career and personal success.
-
Does NYIT accept credits for prior learning?
Yes.
For the most part, we accept credits taken at other colleges
and universities.. For information about your individual situation,
please contact the Office of Admissions.
