NYIT Class of 2010 Graduates at the NYIT Star Awards![]()
During the Class of 2010 Gala Dinner held at the Le Méridien Hotel on the 12th of June, NYIT Amman Celebrated outstanding graduates and NYIT Alumni by giving out the NYIT Star Awards 2010. Director of Alumni Relations Mr. Joe Fortine, welcomed the class of 2010 as NYIT’s latest Alumni, “It is my great privilege to share this remarkable day with you and we are proud to welcome you into the family of the NYIT Alumni Federation, a global network of more than 85,000.” Said Fortine in his speech. before the Alumni Recognition Awards and Star Awards were presented by NYIT President Dr. Edward Guiliano. The Alumni Recognition Awards are presented to accomplished alumni and friends. To best recognize individuals selected for service or for achievement. This year although not present at the Gala, the award was given to Zeid Kudsi and Sabri Hakim for their award winning website “Talasim”.
Sabri Hakim’s latest venture. A 26 year old Jordanian NYIT Alumni entrepreneur spent the last three years working advertising branding and photography, he’s been commissioned to travel as a around the region and worked global clients like CNN and Getty Images. Sabri Hakim along with the rest of his team run TALASIM visioned to become the number one community for comedy in the Arab world.
Zeid Kudsi, also an NYIT Alumni earned his marketing degree at NYIT.. This exposed him to the market at a very young age, which served to widen his outlook and sharpen his business intelligence. Today, Zeid has a passion for business development and had experience in a variety of sectors including telecommunications and web development before starting his own Talasim.com. Alumni Recognition Award recipients also includes Michael Makdah, co-founder of Jo-Bedu. Michael earned his Bachelors degree from NYIT in Computer Science in 2006, and started up Jo-Bedu, a company that created a series of t-shirts based on our Jordanian Culture; hence their infamous slogan "Join the Tribe". Since he started his business he invested $3,000 and hasn't invested again yet.
Dot.Jo co-founder Bakr Dirani, earned his MBA at NYIT while he was working at Batelco. Then in 2007 he started up his own business in 2007, which is an I.T Company that develop online systems. According to 2009 statistics the government did, dot.jo is the market share leader in Jordan in it's field. Class of 2010 Graduates also got recognition for their extra-curricular activities while attending NYIT. Students Betty Khoury, Anas Qasem and Shahd Al-Bayaa were awarded the NYIT Star Award for Volunteer and Community Out-Reach for all of their work to making Jordan a better place, by reaching out to local NGO’s and other entities. Also recognized for outstanding work, was Mohammad Basheer, he was awarded the NYIT Star Award for Athletic Excellence, Basheer has been in the NYIT Soccer Team since 2004, started as a goal keeper, became captain and is now Assistant Coach in the Athletic Department. |
